Assessments

We use various evidence-informed psychometric and dynamic assessment tools to help uncover difficulties experienced by your child. We are fully trained and qualified to use powerful assessment batteries such as

  • Education, Health and Care Plan Needs Assessment - Looking for a private educational psychologist to complete your child’s EHC needs assessment? With the current pressures facing local authorities to allocate children’s assessments to in-house, local EPs, it’s no wonder some families face waits of up to 32+ weeks before an EP is assigned. Remove that unnecessary delay and choose us to complete evidence-informed, detailed, and, most importantly, legally accepted needs assessments to support your child’s application process.

  • Standardised cognitive assessments - uncover your child’s cognitive strengths and difficulties using gold-standard testing suites. Through various activities and tasks, we can discover your child’s verbal, non-verbal and spatial abilities compared to thousands of children in the UK.

  • Phonological awareness testing - Understand your child’s journey in phonics and discover the areas requiring extra help on their way to fluency.

  • Specific Learning difficulties (SpLD) - Dyslexia affects approximately 10% of the UK population, which means almost 6.3 million people have difficulty concentrating, reading, and processing information. If you have concerns about your child’s likelihood of having dyslexia, dyscalculia, or another SpLD, then get in touch today.

  • Executive Functioning difficulties - Executive functioning (EF) refers to the mental skills we use to manage our thoughts, actions, and emotions to achieve goals. Impairment of the EF is associated with difficulties such as planning, organizing, and self-control. It has been linked with populations diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

  • And many more, including extensive work with children and families from foreign backgrounds.

Consultation

At Emerald Bridges CPAS, we use a “wraparound” approach to support. This means we provide clear explanations and opportunities for questions throughout the entire process. Every initial inquiry is eligible for a free 30-minute consultation to explore the best services for their needs. After completing any work, schools can have a free 45-minute debrief/Q&A meeting with the Educational Psychologist and/or parents to clarify terminology, assessment procedures, findings, and next steps.

Flexible reporting procedures

At Emerald Bridges, we provide various options for documenting our assessments of your child's developmental strengths and areas for improvement. Whether you require a thorough report to support official processes like applying for an education, health, and care plan or a brief and clear summary of findings to validate or specify needs, we have you covered.

Whether through consultation, individual assessments, or advice, we are dedicated to providing equitable and culturally responsive educational and child psychology services to you, your child, and their community.
